University of Illinois New Farmer Program

May 10th - Farm Class in St. Charles, IL - 18 of us - there are a few more that attend. A great bunch of serious farm students. I'm in the front holding some lily roots to plant in the Community Nursing home garden.

I'm winding up the ropes that we used to pull the plastic over.
Almost finished - it was 55 outside and about 110 inside.

Nashville

I worked a conference last week in Nashville. This hotel was entirely under a dome - like a big green house.  While the plants and design was nice, we were inside the entire time - no fresh air. AND the weather outside was beautiful.  Too bad the roof didn't open or something.  Strange place -

Came home to more blooms on the daffidill's - they are so cheerful. Makes you believe in spring.

Update on the Hot Box.  It worked beautifully. It didn't flood and we've had rain for 5 days straight.  The lettuces are a little spindly but they should transplant well. The Tomato and Pepper seedlings are still at 2 leaves and I will transplant them in another 2 weeks. It's too cold. All in all - I am happy with the window.
