Some pictures of the garden and all that is growing right now. We've had enough rain that it is all flourishing!  It's a joy to stop by each morning and see the changes.

A picture of our balcony. It looks like a mini English Garden to me. Pink, white, purple and green. The humming birds come by each morning and make there rounds to each flower.

Thanks for stopping by!

The Community Nursing Home Garden

Ground Cherry - looks like a Tomatillo

Sweet Onion

Pumpkin Pie Baby Pumpkin
Just a few shots Bobby took of the garden this morning. I've let the weeds run all over the paths but close to each plant, I've weeded.

It takes over before you know it and I feel like I should be there right NOW weeding. I just feel lazy today and keep telling myself that I'll wait until fall and rip up the path. I have a "Not to weed" excuse each year. "It rained too much" , " The ground is too wet", "It's going to rain", "It's too Hot" - and on they go.

I think that as long as the plants I'm trying to grow are weed free or close to weed free, I'll be ok.

Clematis in June

Moss Roses

Clematis

Clematis in Small Vases
The garden is growing like mad. The weather has been close to perfect so far this month. Hot and sunny one day, raining and soaking the ground the next.

I took a mini vacation and visited with the residence of the nursing home Friday. They asked to bring something that was blooming from the garden to share. It's too early in the season for the Zinnia but the Clematis were beautiful. The entire sides of the trellis was covered with blooms. I snipped about 30 of them off and made little vases. They lasted about 3 days.

Love the Residence of the Community Nursing and Rehab Center of Naperville. I try and visit when ever I can.

Thanks for stopping by.

Balcony Basil

Balcony Basil
LOVE basil on the balcony. Snip as needed. I try to find new recipes just so I can use the Basil. It smells great, tastes great, and a pretty plant too.

I have a lot of cook books. Many have tagged pages of either recipes I've made or want to make. I use the Joy of Cooking and Betty Crocker the most. Simple and good.

But - when I feel like making something entirely different, I look in the fridge, see what's available, then type it into the computer. Like my very own Episode of "Chopped". "Tonight's ingredients are Chicken, Basil, Rice and Pecans" then Wallah! I've either made a yummy dinner or a just so so dinner.
