Snow in February

Snowing like crazy today. Beautiful.

Staying in all day today to make granola - smells heavenly right now toasting in the oven - to cleaning the Science lab I have going on in the spare bedroom.

Stay warm and safe.

University of Illinois Kane County Extension

I just completed the second "Preparing a New Generation of Illinois Fruit and Vegetable Farmers" class at the Kane County Extension office. Oh how I love these classes. Once a month we meet for 6 hours and learn. Learn about the thing I love most. Farming! We have about 32 students from all over Illinois. Once I'm finished in November, I will be able to understand everything about growing in Illinois.

This is a picture from Mayneland Farm down the road from us. His chicken pen. Mr. Mayne has 14 - 15 acres of some beautiful Naperville Farm land. Hard to find a farm in Naperville and this one is 1/2 mile away.

Winter Driving

While I was driving my 2 miles to work, these poor folks were on east bound 94. Wow. What a Pile up.  My heart goes out to them.

Winner of the Awesome Foundation

My Community Nursing Home Project is the winner of Funds! Awesome Foundation WOW!

I am so excited. I just walked over there this morning to assess the spring planting.  I seeded Rye last fall and it should be the first thing up.  I have a long way to go before digging but I can get some ideas. Right?

I just noticed that I never thank Bobby in any of my adventures.  It's because of him that I have the passion to do theses things. He lets me be me. What could be better? Thanks Bobby.

He'd like this picture of himself. It was a beautiful sunny day in Chicago. Thanks again Bobby.

December

Cold but beautiful.

Christmas is right around the corner. Happy Holidays.

2013 Garden

Bobby took some great pictures of this years Community Nursing Home Garden. I love the Gate with the shed in the background.

It's all cleaned up and put to bed for the winter.

Long Time Posting

Visited a Farm Northwest of Rockford. Irish Grove Farm. Heavenly - beautiful place. Over 200 acres and the owners raised beef. We toured a slaughter/butcher shop in Seward the morning of the tour. Then drove over to this incredible place.

I am coming up with material to add to the blog and will keep up with my postings. I am ready to put together a business plan and proceed with a farm. Life is too short to keep dreaming about one.
